Description
How do you reconstruct a joyful life out of a barren wasteland? That's the question so many believers today are asking in the wake of divorce, loss of a loved one, a frightening medical diagnosis, or any number of equally devastating events that seek to crush their spirits. Joy is a struggleit takes work and commitment. But, it is also the power against which no darkness can stand.\Much of the contemporary Christian experience is similar to that of the Israelites who returned from exileuncertain and tentative in their faith, questioning their legitimacy as children of god. Using stories from frequently overlooked chapters in Ezra and Nehemiah, author John Timmerman illuminates the way to a renewed spirit for those who feel lost and are suffering.\It is as if God speaks directly to us out of the pages of history, saying, "Hold on. My guidance is sure. The walls can be rebuilt. You can dance with joy again as persons of God." Like God's Children of Israel, we are really Not So Far From Home.\John Timmerman
