Description
Rev. Lawrence Yap has faithfully served as the Senior Pastor of Charis Community Church — an Assemblies of God congregation — for the past 40 years. Together with his wife, Rev. Wai Lin, he is joyfully blessed with two married children and three grandchildren, who continue to inspire their shared journey of ministry.
Under his leadership, Charis Community Church (CCC) has grown into a vibrant, compassionate church known for its community impact. The church actively reaches out through various ministries including an orphanage, a dialysis centre, a senior citizens' outreach, a learning centre for refugee children, a ministry dedicated to supporting exploited women, and a periodic free medical clinic for the surrounding community.
Beyond his pastoral responsibilities, Rev. Yap also serves as General Secretary of the Assemblies of God of Malaysia; a Board Member of Asian Outreach Malaysia, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bible College of Malaysia, where he helps shape the next generation of Christian leaders.
He also contributes to local community unity by serving alongside 20 other pastors in the Love Cheras Pastors Fellowship — a fellowship committed to strengthening inter-church collaboration and bringing transformative hope to the Cheras community.
